Iranian Forces State Assault on US Base in the Kingdom of Bahrain, As Part of Widespread Military Operations.
Iran's military claims to have hit a US naval base in Manama, as the country executed operations throughout the Middle East in retaliation for a "massive" and continuing assault targeting the nation by the United States and Israeli forces.
Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an zone near the main base of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The scope of any damage is not yet known and the US has not commented.
Airspace Engagements
In other parts of the Middle East, the UAE, the State of Qatar and the State of Kuwait - all home to US military bases - stated they have shot down missiles in their air space.
In Doha, the Qatari Ministry of Defence announced it had successfully engaged a number of projectiles seemingly aimed at the al-Udeid air base, the biggest US military installation in the region.
Iran's Declared Retaliation
Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said in a statement it was striking US bases and assets as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in reprisal for the offensive on the Islamic Republic initiated by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday.
That US-Israeli operation - launched at around 06:15 GMT - has so far targeted locations associated with the Tehran's leadership, with President Trump encouraging the Iranian people to rise up against the regime.
Regional Fallout
In the State of Israel, sirens were heard nationwide after the Israel Defense Forces reported it had identified an incoming Iranian missile barrage.
The Ministry of Defence of the United Arab Emirates stated that the nation has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"UAE air defence systems dealt with the missiles with high efficiency and successfully intercepted a several projectiles," the statement continued.
Officials reported wreckage fell on a residential area in the capital, causing some structural damage and killing a civilian.
The United States Air Force operates from Al Dhafra Air Base, to the south of the Emirati capital, along with the UAE Air Force.
