Joshua Reaffirms on Controversial ‘Kill’ Statements Directed at Paul
Anthony Joshua doubled down on his provocative remarks about wanting to “kill” Jake Paul during a press event in Miami on Wednesday.
His words were initially uttered on Tuesday when Joshua was asked if he would hold back against Paul, responding that “if I can kill you, I'll kill”.
The upcoming fight against the YouTuber-turned-boxer has sparked debate over the risk involved and the size difference between the two fighters.

Ex- titleholder The Gypsy King called Joshua a “disgrace” for his inflammatory language.
But Joshua, defended his position: “It's my job, we fight. We have a licence to kill.
“I'm sure many people don't understand it but this is what my job is. I take pleasure in what I do. Whatever happens, happens - as long as my hand is raised, that's what's paramount, respectfully.”
He stated, “That's just the mindset we have to have as fighters. I don't know if other boxers think that way. Perhaps they're a bit more tame. The way my mind works. When you're in the ring, it's a risky thing. Everything can happen.”
“You hope your adversary exits the ring in good health, but if they don't, you still have to go to bed knowing you just did your job. It was not personal.”
Paul's Fiery Retort
Paul, a huge outsider in the fight as a career lighter fighter, was no less combative in his response.
“This is a modern day combat sport,” Paul declared. “I'm ready. I want his most powerful punches. I want there to be no excuses when it's all said and done. Let's kill each other.”
AJ will face Paul, in his twenties, at Miami's Kaseya Center in a bout many see as a significant mismatched contest, with some suggesting it should have been approved as an exhibition bout.
The professional contest will be fought over eight 3-minute stanzas using regular 10oz padded gloves, with a specified weight limit for Joshua.
He Claims He Was “Called In to Rescue” Boxing
Despite the graphic terminology used, Joshua said he has been “brought in to save” boxing.
“They want me to stop the Jake Paul phenomenon and I comprehend it and that's why I have to carry the sport on my back in this bout,” he added.
The news conference also had lighter moments, with Joshua smiling as his rival sang a nursery rhyme to him.
The face-off passed peacefully, with the underdog striking a bizarre pose before Joshua stayed composed and playfully touched Paul's chain.
Both Fighters Dismiss Pre-Arranged Allegations
The peculiar nature of this bout has led to speculation about its legitimacy, including suggestions that Joshua may be restricted from knocking Paul out.
“There are no clauses in the agreement, AJ can confirm it. We're going to battle,” Jake Paul insisted.
Joshua, sporting a expensive chain, jokingly added, “The only thing in the contract that got my attention was the payment.”
Paul has claimed on his platforms that the fight earnings will be extremely large.
