Mohamed Salah Offers Statement to Teammates, Discloses Curtis Jones
Jones has revealed that the Egyptian forward apologised to the team following the controversy from his public comments.
The Incident
He was omitted from a key Champions League match after voicing frustrations and suggesting his relationship with manager had soured.
“Mo is his own man and he can say his own stuff,” Jones revealed. “He apologised to us and was like: ‘Should anyone feel slighted, please accept my apology.’”
Arne Slot has previously declined to comment publicly on whether he got an explanation from the veteran striker.
Looking Ahead
Jones insisted that the squad's reaction stayed normal. “Nothing about him changed, he had a big smile on his face and everybody was exactly the same with him,” Jones added.
He also noted that a player's desire to start is a positive trait. “I get that there are specific approaches you can express yourself,” he said. “However, if a player is content to just be on the bench, then I think that’s a bigger problem.”
On-Field Response
Liverpool's form have remained strong in the period after the situation. The player is convinced the outburst were not intended to cause disruption.
“In moments of frustration, it’s always been from a desire to win,” Jones concluded. “It's behind us and we’re building chemistry, getting results and starting to win games.”
