Pat Bamford Joins the Blades Despite Leading Derogatory Chants About Manager Chris Wilder
Patrick Bamford has joined the Championship side only seven months after instigating insulting chants directed at the team's coach, Chris Wilder.
The 32-year-old forward, without a club after departing from Leeds United, has put pen to paper on a deal joining the second-tier club in difficulty through the winter. Bamford's lengthy time with Leeds concluded by mutual consent in August.
One of the player's last memorable actions as a Leeds player involved leading abusive chants regarding Chris Wilder during Leeds' success festivities this spring. Currently, the former England international will be playing under Wilder as Sheffield United's boss looks to pull his beloved club away from the relegation zone.
Past History Between Bamford & the Manager
The pair had a past before Leeds earned promotion back to the Premier League last season and United lost the playoff final by Sunderland. The manager called the forward as a "muppet" back when the roles were reversed during the 2018-19 season and the Blades won direct promotion whereas Leeds United missed out in the playoffs.
Reconciliation and Moving Forward

The song about Wilder gained traction this spring. A repentant Bamford and the Leeds manager, Farke, phoned Wilder the next day.
Chris Wilder said at the time: “Had a conversation with Patrick yesterday and I have no issue whatsoever with that. I'm uncertain regarding the language from a fellow pro! But I valued and admired him calling me.
“We spent a short while and similarly I talked with Daniel as well and we had a longer discussion with him and he's a super guy, a top guy. Back in my playing days we would give it and accept it and that’s an integral part of the game across all levels, even on a Sunday morning. I've got no problem at all. I'm fine with the situation and I told him that to Pat.”
Latest Playing Struggles
The forward made 18 games for Leeds in the previous campaign however the former Forest, Chelsea and Boro player has faced difficulties with fitness issues over the past few seasons.
