An senior medical official has been recused from involvement in a major medical study on gender-affirming medication subsequent to accusations of bias surfaced.

The doctor continued: “For clarity, there is no persuasive research justification to stop the Pathways trial. While Prof George’s individual beliefs is not the only plausible cause for the regulator’s sudden change of position, they are the only one for which we have evidence.”

Regulator Response Regarding Future Actions

An MHRA spokesperson said: “In every medical studies, the MHRA’s foremost duty remains the safety and welfare of the trial participants. In line with that commitment, complicated clinical trials are kept continuously under scrutiny while the MHRA maintains an ongoing scientific dialogue with research organizers.”
