That Grisly Animated Movie Conclusion That Haunts Viewers
Out of every adult-oriented animated films I’ve ever viewed, no other has remained with me quite like the terror-laced finale of a viscerally violent and overwhelingly transgressive 2022 movie The Unicorn Wars.
Back in the year 2015, this Spanish filmmaker crafted a grim, bleak , frequently brutal world with some tiny , desolate hints of optimism.
While Unicorn Wars feels like it came from an impulse to advance the medium further, the filmmaker stated that it was rather a try to convey a widespread, multicultural theme concerning “the common origin of each battle.”
That message is communicated through a squad of brightly hued teddy bears , clearly based on a well-known line of cuddly characters.
Being raised in a society built around warmongering as well as the defense industry, many of these animals are fixated on slaughtering unicorns, because of a sacred text which states the bears they used to be kings of the woods, until the horned beings expelled them.
Others did not entirely accepted the propaganda, and prefer to experiment with substances or fornicate outdoors.

Meanwhile, these mythical beings are enduring their own horror, as a spreading, deadly beast in their woods.
“At the beginning, it feels like a lighthearted film,” the filmmaker said. “But then it evolves into a more serious and melancholic film. And by the end, it transforms into a terrifying movie.”
The Unicorn Wars starts out resembling among the whimsical films from a legendary filmmaker, that discover a wicked pleasure in permitting animated figures swear, engage in violence, or have intimate relations.
Subsequently it evolves into closer to a more grim work from the same director, with increasingly explicit brutality and a tangible relation to the actual horror of war.
Ultimately, it’s a full-on Grand Guignol bloodbath.
