It's difficult for the Australian squad to achieve unprecedented feats.

The highest peaks have long been mastered.

We're talking about the unit that has secured seven Cricket World Cups, along with an additional six T20 titles, and once went over three years without defeat in 50-over cricket.

The remaining milestones, the ones sought by the peak baggers, are what's still available for a team that has won it all.

It needed until Sunday's success by three wickets over India for them to achieve their initial ODI chase above 300, taking back their record for the biggest in women's cricket's 50-over format, is, in truth, a compliment to the pitchers that have sported the yellow jersey over the past 50 years.

It's difficult for their hitters to hold a record if never given the chance.

Finally, the outcome of Australia allowing 330 runs was skipper Alyssa Healy getting an opportunity to create her most recent brilliance.

Initially recognized as the teenage relative of celebrated previous Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she first played in 2010 after her nation couldn't capture either of the 20 or 50-over World Cups held the previous year and has witnessed all through 15 successful years since.

A T20 World Cup win arrived three months after her bow and seven global championships have resulted from 10 tries across formats.

The gritty keeper was in attendance in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final defeat by India momentarily interrupted the winning streak.

That loss "pushed us to rethink our standards," Healy said this week.

Some will argue the case for final game tension. Some might respond with the test that comes when pursuing an unprecedented total and an enthusiastic Indian fanbase of 20,000.

What's definite is this ton was much more difficult to anticipate.

The Christchurch destruction in 2022 occurred when she topped the run-scoring charts, but this innings followed six innings in India from the beginning of the previous month in which she had failed to pass 30.

"If you've been watching me in the nets, it's been a disappointing period because it seemed I've had no rhythm at all," said Healy.

"But once you enter the playing area, your fighting spirit take over and you just lock into the competition."

Healy's competitive nature has continuously been her key asset - and an invaluable trait in taking over from iconic ex-skipper Meg Lanning.

She was tormented by India's emerging talent Kranti Gaud in the previous month's ODI series, dismissed by the young fast bowler in every game, but here that only provided Healy's spark.

One run resulted off Gaud's first delivery and from that point the batsman was in motion.

"A chance to go out there and engage in competition with her and just have a bit of fun that way, kind of motivated me," said Healy.

She reached fifty in 35 balls - her swiftest at the global tournament - and her hundred in 84 balls as she attacked short-pitched balls, hitting 21 fours and three maximums.

Once she was removed Australia needed 66 more at one run per ball - an achievable target now requiring a leisurely stroll.

"Chasing 330 runs is uncharted waters so I am glad we have the belief to achieve that now," added Healy.

"Ideally we won't need to do it again but, if necessary, we know we can achieve it."

These statements will be the final thing competing nations at this tournament need to hear.

During the last week a feeling they will succeed regardless of circumstances has become more firm - this victory following success over Pakistan by 107 runs despite struggling at 76-7 at a certain moment.

Next Australia play Bangladesh before a match against traditional opponents England in Indore in a week and a half, by which point a last-four spot may probably be guaranteed.

During that phase they exited last year's T20 World Cup in an unexpected loss by South Africa - a match Healy missed because of damaged tissue in her foot as she led her country for the initial instance at an important competition.

So strong is her resolve, she afterwards commented she regretted not playing through the pain.

Yet even as she afterwards confessed those injuries have pushed back consideration of ending her career, this tournament is likely to be her concluding event as leader in 50-over cricket and she is still to achieve an international tournament as skipper.

Triumph in India would take her to the summit of her last major obstacle.
