The British government is prepared to move forward with utilizing the entire amount of immobilized Russia's holdings to support the Ukrainian war effort, Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer has declared.

In a collective announcement, the officials of the Britain, the French Republic, and the Federal Republic of Germany asserted that this coordinated action would increase strain on Russian President Vladimir Putin and persuade the Russian Federation to participate in talks.

They further noted that the move would be executed in strong partnership with the United States.

United Kingdom sanctions have blocked over £25bn of Russian funds since Moscow initiated its widespread offensive against Ukraine in 2022. Yet, until now, funds provided to Ukraine using Russian holdings had solely been drawn from gains and dividends accrued on them.

Sir Keir assured President Volodymyr Zelensky that the UK, France, and the Federal Republic of Germany were aligned in their goal to drive progress toward employing the full value of the seized Russia's state assets to halt hostilities.

He added that more sanctions in the coming days and weeks would heighten the tension on Moscow.

This declaration follows European leaders gathered in Copenhagen recently to consider employing seized Russia's funds for a €140 billion loan to Ukraine.

Last month, US President Donald Trump urged international partners to confiscate or otherwise use seized Russia's funds, according to media sources.

The total of seized Russian funds in the European Union is estimated to be approximately €211bn.

Moscow executed large-scale bombardments all over the Ukrainian territory on recently, resulting in blackouts in many areas of Ukraine's capital, Kyiv, and several other zones.

Two people were lost their lives and no fewer than 20 people were wounded in the attack, Ukrainian officials said.

In a message on social media following the incident, Zelensky stated that the premeditated assault aimed at non-military and power facilities.

"The necessity is not just talk but decisive action - from the United States, EU, and the Group of Seven - in providing air defence systems and implementing sanctions," he wrote.

"All penalty impositions undermines Russia's war machine," Zelensky wrote, in a separate post.

In the same period, Zelensky informed reporters he would urge Sir Keir to participate in the Purl programme, under which alliance members acquire arms from the United States to provide to the Ukrainian forces.

While commending the Britain's strong support for Ukraine, he said it should send a clear signal that it would take part in the initiative, as well as apply further measures on Moscow.
